Local Dentist Completes Advanced Training Becoming A Master Aesthetic Dentist

While at the Institute, Dr. Taxin underwent intensive training including completing a complex case on a live patient under the direction of teachers. To qualify to complete this advanced level of training, Dr. Taxin had to complete several other courses building up to this one.

Dr. Taxin is one of the few dentists from New Rochelle, NY that has completed a program that teaches these skills. Area Dentist Achieves Advanced Laser Certification Status

Destin, Florida, USA -- March 15, 2003 -- Dr. Paul Taxin of New Rochelle, New York, was awarded Standard Proficiency Certification during the Academy of Laser Dentistry's Tenth Annual Conference and Exhibition held March 5-8, 2003 in Destin, Florida. Dr. Taxin was among the 60 laser practitioners undergoing standard examination during the conference by the Academy's Certification Committee.

Successful completion of the certification program formally demonstrates knowledge and clinical proficiency in laser dentistry. The certification program administered by the Academy is a structured educational mechanism for dental practitioners wishing to achieve high standards of dental laser care. The examination complies with the Curriculum Guidelines and Standards for Dental Laser Education, formulated in July 1992 and updated October 1998 by a group of individuals from dental academia, industry, and private practice, and endorsed by more than 100 organizations worldwide.

Area Dentist Attends 10th Anniversary Laser Dentist Conference, Notes Advances in Dental Care

Destin, Florida, USA – March 15, 2003 – Dr. Paul Taxin of New Rochelle, New York, was among the more than 350 leading national and international clinicians as well as renowned academicians who gathered together for discussions on new research, technological developments and the expanding role of lasers in dental care during the Academy of Laser Dentistry's 10th Anniversary and Annual Conference and Exhibition meeting held March 5-8, 2003 in Destin, Florida.

This educational conference presented a broad spectrum of clinical and experimental applications of dental lasers. Thursday's presentations covered laser soft tissue applications; Friday's topics centered on diagnosis, restorative dentistry and endodontics while Saturday was devoted to periodontal surgery and therapy. New FDA cleared applications which represent a breakthrough in treatment were presented at this annual meeting as well as important studies in HIV oral manifestations, pediatric and geriatric treatment and cosmetic procedures.

General and scientific sessions, hands-on workshops and participation courses, a new daily 2-hour question and answer session was the format for this 10th Anniversary meeting of the Academy of Laser Dentistry. Attendees were encouraged to interact with presenters during the breakfast for learning series. Social events rounded out the 10th Anniversary meeting.

Something to Smile About

Have you noticed lately that people seem happier, more confident, and, well, just a bit more likeable? It could be because of the latest addition to our grooming regimen – teeth whitening.

In the last five years, in-office teeth bleaching has more than tripled, according to the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentists. And sales of over-the-counter teeth whitening strips, swabs, gels and pastes have increased 800 percent. “People look at bleaching like getting their hair colored,” says Wynn Okuda, a cosmetic dentist in Honolulu. But, just like with a dye job, the gray comes back, so preserving those pearly choppers is an outgoing task.

Whitening, though, is about much more than vanity, says Okuda. “It makes people smile, and smiling makes you feel happier on the inside.” So praise the Lord – and pass the Pepsodent.
